Manifesto
As a designer I aim to tell a story with my creations and to bring people joy. I am drawn to colour and texture and so incorporate them in different ways throughout my designs. My interest in textiles stems from being a highly observational individual and so I enjoy adding many different details to garments. I create designs that will grab your attention and then hold it as you explore the details of the garment. High quality construction and design is extremely important to me, so everything I do is to the highest of standards.
Concepts and inspirations for my work either come from my personal life or from other’s stories whether they be fictional or not. Royalty, luxury and a little bit of magic often captures my attention and I enjoy bringing these elements into my designs. I enjoy helping people feel that there is a little bit of magic in the world.
As a designer I relish constantly learning new techniques whether they be old or new, to bring into my practice. I have done short courses in millinery, leather work, machine knitting and tambour beading. All of which bring me new skills and ideas for my designs. I have recently discovered machine embroidery and am really enjoying using it in my latest collection.
About Me
Olivia Okely is a costume and fashion designer who is an honours student at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) studying a Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Textiles. She is currently completing her graduate collection.
She has an interest in learning new techniques across many creative disciplines. Since learning to sew at age 11, she hasn't stopped. She is always trying to extend her skills and use them in new and creative ways.

Olivia has experience as a bridal seamstress, including veil making, lace embellishment and adding the final touches to the gowns. She finds joy in creating pieces that are special for the wearer, knowing they will be cherished.
